Our 4th of July Celebrations

What a great day we had! I love the 4th of July! I have always loved parades and all the celebrations on this day, the only problem is, I married a man who couldn't care less about these things. He was such a trooper and came along for the ride. I think secretly he had a good time, but would never admit it.

We were invited to celebrate with Patrese, Kim and their family in Kaysville. They had a good old fashioned small town parade. Throwing candy and locals. Not a lot of big floats. Then came the end of the parade. We had heard about the town waterfight, but certainly were not prepared. We noticed all the coolers full of water and the water guns etc. Along came the firetrucks, spraying their hoses into the crowd, water trucks using their huge trucks with water tanks. It was the most amazing site. The crowd was prepared also with their buckets and water guns. The streets were swarming with wet people. Needless to say, we moved out stuff out of the way and will come better prepared next year. It was a lot of fun! We met a cute couple next to us who come prepared every year. She fell in love with Afton and held her during the parade, but quickly handed her over when the water was coming. We hope to see them next year. The boys wanted to get wet and loved every minute of it. They were running up to people and asking to be shot with the water guns.

We went back to the Taylor home and had BBQ. Some took naps, played, and got wet. The adults were challenged to a game of capture the flag. Adults against kids. We had a great time and the kids never dreamed they would get beat so bad! That night we were about to sit in the cemetary right by Patrese's house and watch the fireworks. It was a great day and we hope to be able to do it again next year. Afton slept thru most of her first 4th, but was soooo cute nonetheless.
